Workforce Housing

Workforce housing is a program administered through the Planning & Zoning Office in Norwalk. The Workforce Housing program requires all new developments in Norwalk building 3 units or more to set aside 10% of their building's units as "Workforce Housing". This housing typology is directed towards those making 60-80% of the State Median Income or less, as defined annually by HUD. A maximum rent rate is set by the State for these units, annually, and is intended to be affordable to those who qualify, by capping the rent at no more than 30% of the qualifying income. It also encourages mixed-income housing throughout the municipality. Workforce housing is typically offered in the form of studio to three bedroom apartment units throughout the municipality.

Currently, the following buildings include Workforce Housing Units. Line items in boldcurrently have workforce housing units available. All other buildings should accept your application as part of their wait-list program.
