What color is level 6 hair?

Why does level 6 hair turn orange when I lighten it?
This is normal, and is to do with the way all hair works. Not just your clients.
As you lighten hair either using bleach or oxidant, the hair gives off a secondary color.
In the case of level 6 hair, that secondary color is orange.

2 ways to tone level 6 orange hair
When you have orange hair level 6,you have 2 choices.
The first way would be to apply bleach and lift and lighten it some more, at least until level 9/10.
Then tone it with a purple based toner.
This way will get your hair to a light ash blonde.
The second way (for those who do not wish to lighten any more) would be to tone over the level 6 orange hair.
This way covers over the orange.
And getsyour hair to a medium blonde.
We will go through both these ways now.
First way: lighten the hair and then tone hair ash blonde.
In order to lighten level 6 hair, you will need to use bleach.
We would suggestBrilliant Blondexx Bleach with Bond Protect.
It's a very fast acting bleach which can lift orange hair to level 9 using just 20 Vol developer.
At the same time it has Bond Protect built in to the formula.
Which means that the hair is protected as it lifts.
Brilliant Blondexx with Bond Protect & 20 Vol developer.
You can use Brilliant Blondexx near the root area as well as on the lengths.
Make a nice wet mix with your 20 vol developer (1 part bleach to 2 parts developer is good).
And remember to saturate the hair very well so that is is literally drenched in the bleach mixture.
Rinse when you get to level 9 pale yellow as in the picture below.

Once the hair has been lifted you can lift with any purple based toners.
Toners containing purple will act to neutralize any remaining yellow in the hair and help you produce nice ash blonde results.

Both these toners have purple based pigments.
The first toner is an ammonia-free toner and will give you a lighter refresh toning.
Whereas the second is a permanent toner and will give you a stronger toning effect, and more permanent.
Remember: both these toners should be used on pre-lightened level 9/10 hair.
In other words, if your hair is level 6, you need to lighten first with bleach.
Second way: tone over the orange using blue basedash blonde colors
6.1b Blue Based Colr Ash Blonde

The second strategy is for those women who do not wish to go blonde but just want to cover over the orange hair.
For such cases, using blue based ash blonde hair colors is the best.
Especially 6.1b, which is a level 6 ash blonde color with blue added as an extra reflect.
The blue is important because it enables you to neutralize orange most effectively.
For extra blue, you can also add a dollop of ash blue additive (see above) to your mixture - bit just an inch of the blue, not more, as it is very strong.
This will help neutralize and tone over your orange hair.
And produce a stunning and consistent level 6 hair color result.
