Vocations are the combat roles you can take on during your grand adventure in Dragon's Dogma 2. Each Vocation comes with different playstyles, weapons, skills, and augments that can turn the tide of battle in your favor. Here's a guide on every vocation and class in Dragon's Dogma 2.

How Vocations in Dragon's Dogma 2 Work

To master your chosen Vocation in Dragon's Dogma 2, you'll need to defeat dangerous foes and complete quests to earn the Dcp (Discipline) required to rank up and acquire weapon skills, core skills, and augments from a Vocation Guild. Additionally, acquired augments from your vocation can be enabled for any other vocation you switch to. As you meet and gain affinity with Maisters throughout the world, you'll also unlock new vocations and earn tomes that grant the most potent skills for each.

The starting vocations can be unlocked early on and easily at a vocation guild. Warrior and Sorcerer are unlocked with quests in the first main town, and the rest are unlocked in more secretive ways.

Starting Vocations

You can choose from four starting Vocations during character creation in Dragon's Dogma 2. These classes are Fighter, Archer, Thief, and Mage—each with its own strengths, weaknesses, playstyle, and the ability to climb large monsters.

You'll be able to change your Vocation at any time by visiting a Vocation Guild and paying a small Dcp (Discipline) fee. As an added bonus, when acquiring a new vocation, you'll also get a free set of armor and a weapon to go with it.

Fighter

Fighter is a starting vocation for the Arisen and Main Pawn. Fighters are a melee class that excels in close-quarter combat and defense. They can charge into battle with their one-handed weapons and shields, holding enemy attention while unleashing potent melee attacks and deflecting mighty blows. Fighters also have the ability to inflict significant damage when using their empale skill on staggered enemies and the weak points of knocked-out monsters.

Archer

Archer is a starting vocation for the Arisen and Main Pawn that excels at dealing ranged damage to distant foes with their trusty bow. As an Archer, you can fire your bow while on the move, unleash a flurry of arrows at your targets, and steady your aim to line up the perfect shot at enemy weak points. With special implements of arrows and skills, Archers can also apply various debilitations to foes, making them vulnerable to attack.

Thief

The Thief vocation in Dragon's Dogma 2 is a starting melee class for the Arisen and Main Pawn that relies on speed and agility to evade enemy blows while unleashing swift flurries of damage in the blink of an eye. Armed with daggers and a wide range of skills, Thieves can blend in with their surroundings, steal from NPCs, detonate powder charges, ensnare foes with rope cords, and more. When an enemy is staggered or knocked out, they are especially vulnerable to the Twin Fangs of the Thief.

Mage

The Mage vocation in Dragon's Dogma 2 is a ranged starting class for the Arisen and Main Pawn that wields the power of magicks with staves to aid and support allies and obliterate foes with elemental area damage. Mages must incant their powerful spells before unleashing them, which can take some time. However, with the help of another Mage casting the same spell, they can work together to incant much faster. Mages also gain the ability to levitate and grant elemental boons to the weapons of their party members, making them an essential vocation to have in your party.

Advanced Vocations

There are two advanced vocations in Dragon's Dogma 2 that can be acquired for the Arisen and Main Pawn—the Mighty Warrior and the spell-slinging Sorcerer. The Warrior relies on absorbing blows and unleashing hard-hitting attacks with greatswords and hammers, while Sorcerers excel at incanting powerful elemental damage spells using archistaves from safe distances.

Warrior

Warrior is an advanced vocation for the Arisen and Main Pawn in Dragon's Dogma 2. Warriors are a melee class that wields mighty two-handed greatswords and hammers capable of cleaving down a group of enemies with fearsome attacks. Their weapons are slow and heavy but pack the mightiest of punches when fully charged.

A single swipe of their massive weapons can send smaller enemies flying, and a charged-up attack can stagger larger monsters. While charging up these attacks, Warriors also take reduced damage and can resist flinching while absorbing enemy blows until the perfect time to strike.

Sorcerer

Sorcerer is an advanced vocation for the Arisen and Main Pawn in Dragon's Dogma 2. They are a ranged class that excels at casting offensive magicks with their archistaves from safe distances. Their most potent spells require high amounts of stamina and time to incant but can turn the tide of battle if cast at the right moment. Like Mages, Sorcerers can also perform auxiliary incanting, dramatically reducing the time it takes to cast their most powerful spells.

Hybrid Vocations

Magick Archer

The Magick Archer is a hybrid vocation for the Arisen. They are a ranged damage class that can aid allies and unleash potent elemental and debilitating arrows with its Magickal Bows. Magick Archers can also lock onto targets, fire volleys, and deal massive area damage, allowing them to excel at taking on one or many foes at once from a safe distance.

Mystic Spearhand

The Mystic Spearhand is a hybrid vocation for the Arisen in Dragon's Dogma 2. They wield Duospears, twin-edged spears that can slash and thrust. The Mystic Spearhand also uses magicks to bind enemies and quickly close in on their targets. They can also hurl foes and objects at one another and reach airborne enemies, making them a powerful and versatile melee class.

Warfarer

In one moment, the Warfarer could be casting a massive spell or firing a volley of elemental arrows; the next, unleashing a potent charged-up melee attack with a mighty greatsword.
